Frightening Experience

The story below is written by ESL school student. This story is about the most frightening experience in my life.

Having your private place to live can be very comfortable and happy; however, it can also be a bit frightening sometimes. Couple years ago, I lived with my roommates at Fremont. The house was located at the dead end of the quiet street. One day, everybody went out except me, I stayed home by myself. It was there where I had most frightening experience in my life.

The story started on the weekend, I woke up as usual. I finished my breakfast and then did some exercises. After lunch, I decided to wash my clothes. While I was doing my laundry at the back yard, suddenly there was pandemonium. I heard the screeching tires of vehicle. The dogs were barking wildly. The floor was shaking. A pulsation of my heartbeat was drumming. I dropped the things which I was doing. Then I got to my feet and ran to the back door quickly. While I slammed the door, I heard something charging toward me at an alarming speed. I could tell something was wrong by the rhythm, and when I caught sight of him, there was a brownish figure, walking on his paws. When I finally stopped, I denial of what was happening. A matter of seconds, one man shouted at me " open the door!" I was frozen and fear in my eyes level I only saw his waist wearing a belt with a gun case. They squeezed in the house immediately. Meanwhile, the dog was sniffing me and the man asked:" do you live here? What is your name? How many people live here? Why are those doors locked? What relationship with them? Did you hear anything? Do you recognize the car that park in front of your house?" The other dog was pulling the other man to check out entire house, the dog pulled the man out of the house though the side door toward to the back yard for final check. Before they left, the man said:" stay inside the house, lock the door, OK?" Before sunset, the car parked in front of my house had been towed.

After several hours of this nightmarish search, my heartbeat got slower and slower. I was calm. But the next day, my heart told me how frightened I had been the day before.

Is there anyone who has a similar story that can be shared?
